Has anyone seen Clure?

Postby JimP » Sun Aug 12, 2007 4:58 am

Hi Guys,

Has anyone seen Clure or any of his few babies? He has a nice pedigree but seems to be floundering in California.
Thoughts on him making it in a smaller regional market?

I've not seen him, but I do have a picture of him from one of his past stallion ads if you'd like me to send it to you. My memory is that he was kind of skinny/rangy looking so it was probably a fresh from the track shot.

I hate to say bad things about a stallion, but I will here.
I have worked with 4 of his babies as yearlings. I have never seen him in person. All of those babies were tall and narrow, and very upright through their pasterns. One was club footed, and another was so upright she was pretty much club footed. I don't think any of them made it to the races. I don't know if they were from the same farm, but I wouldn't consider any of them "good minded". That's all.

That doesn't sound encouraging, Cree

On the other hand, Clure only has (in 2007) 6 starters with 4 winners and earnings of $52,721 as of 8/11/07 (BH), & ranked 14th by 3rd Crop Sires (by earnings) in California.

Yup... pretty common in stallion register ads. You should see the shot I have of Comet Shine from a few years ago. You can see where they airbrushed out an entire human.. cracks me up.
