Please analyze Magic Ruby?

Postby horsehelper4 » Fri Sep 07, 2007 6:44 am

Any opinions on the pedigree of Magic Ruby would be greatly appreciated. This boy has great conformation with a good mind, but was injured in an accident out of the gate while racing. Now a private stud in Virginia, I am his horsehelper.....stud handler is just to manly of a term for a woman.[/b]

By an obscure stallion out of a mare who produced a SP runner. His female family, in general, not very strong. There isn't much to recommend unfortunately.

If he is/will be sound and has the build for sporthorse disciplines, I would suggest you look try him with those. He has some good sport lines--notable Sharpen Up, Ribot, and Prince John in there.

Thanks for the information and opinions. Magic's Sire, Jimmy Barnie (GB) was a stakes winner in USA, England and Germany. Only a sire of 7 crops of racing age being a private stud, with 31 foals, 23 starters with 16 winners. Not much to offer there.

Sharpen Up is the sire of Pebbles, a millionaire champion. Like you I also appreciate Sharpen Up (GB). The European horses are strong on his sire side.

His Broodmare sire Meadowlake produced alot of SW's, and his broodmare Suspicious Native by Raise a Native lines still sell for the big bucks at Keeneland.

I just wonder how one will feel about a stallion that had a short race career without him having proved himself as a sire.

Thanks again!

The most inquiry/response I get on Magic Ruby is from the Grand Prix Champion Blushing Groom in his pedigree. The Steeplechasers like this family. I do like Rahy out of the family.
