Regional Stallion weigh-in

Postby Mac » Wed Sep 26, 2007 9:11 am

Below is a rough list of regional, mostly obscure stallions that have good statistics out of limited numbers of starters for whatever reason - are there any on the list below that anyone thinks could be a really successful sire if given a book of excellent mares? Any others to add to this list?

Casanova Star - 14 strs, 12 wnners, 2 stks winners

Misnomer - 10? starters, 7 wnners, 1 graded stks winner

Kipling - 51 starters, 5 stks winners, 1 graded stks winner

My Friend Max - 20? strs, 3 stks winners in the U.S. (plus 2 champions and 4 add'l gsw in Central America)

Limit Out - 25? strs, 3 stks winners, 1 graded stks winner

Comeonmom, 12? strs, 1 graded stks winners (is Papi Chullo a GSW?)

Ghostly Moves, 40-50? strs, 10 stks winners

Desert God, 50-60? strs, 10 stks winners

Premeditation, 3 strs, 2 stks winners

Silver Season, 5 strs, 2 stks winners

I don't know that he'd ever hit the big time, but there is a VERY useful horse in BC named Amaruk. Out of only 12 horses aged 3 and up, he has 2 stakes horses and 7 winners. One of those horses has 9 wins and the other has 11.

Kimberly Mine, I looked him up and he has some OLD heavy hitters fairly up close in his bloodline, like Goldbride and Man O'War. Interesting pedigree!

I talk up Concorde's Tune in Florida any chance I get. He gets them long, short, turf, dirt... and lots of quality and durability. LOVE that horse.
Don't be so humble - you are not that great.

Maven, I like Concorde's Tune a LOT! What an under-rated sire and certainly a good outcross opportunity...I'd forgotten about him. Very good potential sire if given opportunities, IMO.

Hook And Ladder. Don't expect him to be staying in NY very much longer.
