Dixieland Band stallions?
I have 2 mares that have an a+ with dixieland band, so I am looking for a stud to breed these mares to.
Either for breeding or for sale.
Looking for a lower priced (either stud fee or sales price) Dixieland band earner.. Possibly not bred to date, that will stand his first year in 08....
I would love some names, where standing/where they are for sale at. Price/stud fee! Website? Pics? Ads?
Both mares made around $150,000 on the track.
Thanks guys!

Hook And Ladder is going to $10,000 next year, but he's a STEAL, especially if you register the foal in New York. His first crop is out of JUNK and it averaged $111,000 ($87,000 median) at the two year old sales this year. And...they can run!
Here's the website for Sequel Stallions - call Becky Thomas and have a chat with her - she'll tell you flat out if Hook And Ladder is right for none, one, or both your mares.

Cherokee's Boy
Maryland Stallion Station has a website & both Jazz Club and Cherokee's Boy. Jazz Club's a Dixieland Band son & Cherokee's Boy is a grandson via Citidancer.
Cherokee's Boy was a durable regional runner who earned more than a million dollars. He will be standing his 2nd year at stud in 2008 & was at $2500 last year.
Jazz Club favors grandsire Northern Dancer & also stood for $2500 last year. He has several crops of racing age.
I noticed you are in VA & figured the MD stallions might be close, if you intend to race regionally, or sell locally.
If you are interested in a KY sire, I really liked Bowman's Band when I saw him. They just announced his stud fee will stay at $6000 for 2008. His first foals will be of racing age in 2008.
Best of luck with your stallion search.

Guess I should mention....
Both mares are close Prospector mares! Obviously, most the best stallions are going to be prospector/dixieland band crosses...
Jazz Club has been my absolute favorite Dixieland Band stallion to date. He is the one that my mares all have A+ with. Well, actually I have 3 or 4 A+ and 6 A's to Jazz Club/DixieLand Band.
I just wanted to see if there were anymore guys out there like Jazz Club. Great conformation with excellent produce and great earnings!

I have a question about Lady Navigator. According to my 2007 APR, she made 31 starts over five years, ending with a record of 9-2-2 and $122,930 in earnings, and a high speed rating of 85. But there is a claim on her pedigree entry that she earned $140K in wins alone. Can you elaborate?
Regarding this particular mare, she looks to need a serious infusion of speed. Her half brother by Wild Zone was at least G3 placed. Perhaps an Icecapade sireline would be better for her. Regarding the "a+" rating, I wouldn't hang my stirrups on a Werk nick for breeding.

So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....

I would take that A+ Rating with a little trepedation. Werk ratings dont take into consideration the number of times a cross has been tried.
Based on Dixieland Band/Mr. Prospector cross the best horses bred on this cross are Hookedonthefeelin (G1), Roaring Twenties (G1), Shiny Band (G2), Dixie Dot Com (G2) and Southern Rhythm (G2).
It has been tried an awful lot though and while it has done well enough, there are a lot of better options for your mare out there.
Take Lady Navigator as one. She is by De Niro, a son of Gulch. One of the best nicks around that has been tried enough and had great results based on the number of times it has been tried is with Gilded Time. Based on the Gilded Time/Gulch cross the best horses bred on this cross are Elaborate (G2), Interminable Gold (LR), Keesler (LR) and Sunriseontheoasis (LR). While the above horses may not be as good as the ones listed on the Dixieland Band/Mr Prospector cross you must be aware that you are talking about using a son of Dixieland Band and a mare that is a great-granddaughter of Mr Prospector while this is using the sire and a mare that is a grandaughter of the subject broodmare sire.
Just some thougths....

If Dixieland Band may not be the best nick for her, who would be?
I have no problem breeding her to either stud I have here... Wendover or Golden Returns.
But I was just looking for a great nick, or exceptional cross..
