Where is Mecke?

Postby Shadowrun » Mon Oct 15, 2007 8:43 pm

Anyone know where Mecke is these days? I noticed last week that Ocala Stud's ad in the Wire to Wire did not include him. He's off their website too.

It's a little disconcerting since I bred my mare to him this year. I sure would like to know where he has landed. He is on the blood horse stallion durability list just out in Sept. That's what I am looking for in my filly (fingers crossed that it's a "she"). :)

Any info would be appreciated.

I think he may still be at Ocala stud.

They may just not advertise him.

Mecke has always been 100% owned by his owners (and now their estate as they're deceased) and they were never ones to care about advertising. So if Mecke's owners don't want to pay Ocala Stud the fees for advertising him then Ocala Stud doesn't advertise him, they simply stand him and bill his owners for all expenses and it really doesn't make a financial difference to Ocala Stud if he gets many mares or exposure.

I don't know though, but that might be my guess as to what is going on.

He is advertised here in Florida in the daily Wire-to Wire. And I know I've seen his name in the roster of every other Ocala Stud ad.

So, no one seems to know for sure about this boy. I wrote to the farm about him, but have not received an answer.

It seems odd that he would be deliberately removed from the Website if he were still standing at Ocala Stud.

As Kelly Kim said, he has been advertised faithfully, along with all the others, up until just recently.

I wondered if the estate had finally sold him.

Estate issues ??

Postby hpkingjr » Wed Oct 17, 2007 6:21 am

With no direct knowledge my guess would be it may turn around the estate and direction or lack thereof from the Executor to either advertise or not. Without authority from the Executor the farm may not have had authority to go ahead with the ads unless they agreed to pay for them personally.

It is sometimes difficult in the transition period between the death or deaths of a business or farm owner(s) and the appointment of an executor. Just guessing.

I just saw him; he's still there and as far as anyone there knows, he'll be breeding mares there next year.
