Richter Scale

I just whiffed by $500 on a Richter Scale colt (Hip 185) at Fasig Tipton selling for $10,000 that was the best specimen i saw go through the ring all day. I watched the whole thing.

Is it fathomable that a stallion that looks like Richter Scale stands for $5000 at Richland, KY? Take a look at his stallion picture. Anyone explain how stallions with this presence, appearance and race record fail to draw top mares?

He is quite gorgeous. And fascinating pedigree...appealing to those mares with closed pedigrees?
