Any opinion of how his weanlings have looked so far at the Keeneland sales? The prices seems to be less than I would of thought by the quality of the bottom of his foals.
Leroi
Hi,
We have a Mare in foal to Leroi so I was looking at all of the babies.
I felt that overall, they look ALOT like Daddy. Thankfully they seem to get everything except his toe in. They were not very big (height wise), but had some body and some bone. I only saw one filly who toed in. The little filly that I peeked at had attitude to spare. They looked like runners to me, no real flaws, but generally not very big hight wise. He seemed to get some really nice mares with alot of black type, so I too thought that some would sell for more than they did. However, I know from personal experience, that stonewall is very good to work with as far as the stud fee goes, and they offer great incentives to breeders, Sooo, I'm guessing that people were pretty happy with the prices.
$170,000
$77,000
$60,000
and several in the $40,000 to $50,000 range.
for an initial fee of 30k I would be happy. I would assume that most people did not pay full price, reason to be even happier. We payed WAY less and would be thrilled to get 30k for ours
I was also told by a few people that they had recieved private offers that they could not refuse (hence all of the Leroi babies pulled from the sale at the last minute) It might be that the Europeans were snatching the better ones up before that went into the ring.
