Who has crossed well?

Postby helen in FL » Mon Nov 19, 2007 11:36 pm

I have heavily searched information on my stallion's sire Clever Trick for the past few days since his arrival to FL this morning. Though CT did not even hit the top sire lists the past few years, he has seemed to hold his own in the broodmare sire lists after his passing in 2004. It didn't dawn on me he was the dam sire of Sun King, who I have heard good things and has been a topic of conversation on this board.
It got me thinking, there are too many offspring for me to really analyize the way I would like to, but it seems CT is better in the dam line than the sire line. So what blood on top has shown progress? CT has almost done nothing as a sire of sires except make blissfully awesome sport horses like my Dantrick. Granted there is Phone Trick (we know who he sired ;)), Storm Trick and a few others that are not coming to mind. But what has he really done?

Hi Helen,
I LOVE seeing Clever Trick is a pedigree. Especially a Broodmare's pedigree. He is a excellent Broodmare Sire. If you want to know what he has really "done" Go to the pedigree, look up his prodegy, and then use the feature to narrow down the search (where you normally can look at all the horses, boys, girls, Gr 1,) Select Black-Type. And click search. He has had a lot of really good stake winners.
Millionaire- Anet, Gr 2 winner Tricky Creek, Gr 3 Wire me Collect, Gr 3 Bishop bob, Multi stakes winner Victorious Trick, Weekend Delight, and my favorite Gr 1 placed Clever Electrician.. He is So pretty! But the list goes on and on. He is a ver useful sire.

Clever Trick daughters have produced graded winners by a variety of sire lines, particularly Northern Dancer, Mr. Prospector, and *Turn-to. Mr. Prospector over Clever Trick seems to have been the most favorable cross in comparing results to opportunities.
