Pedigree Query

Its a bit early but here in my list in order:

1 Chapel Royal- has huge #'s & I think he will jump out early & be hard to catch

2 Strong Hope- think he may have a couple towards the end of the year that will be real good. He is by far the best stallion prospect in this group IMO

3 Lion Heart- again has the numbers & would not be suprised a bit to see him a leading freshman sire.

4 Cuvee- big #'s and he too was fast & precocious, Early Flyer is from this family & is doing ok for himself this year with limited starters.

5 Omega Code- he def looks like the FL horse this year as he was very fast & at a great 2 year old farm & has 99 foals going for him.

Sleepers: Saarland- he may get a couple that really come on later in the year, I really expect him to become a good sire

City Street- have sold well & really I think Storm Cat at his best are fast 2 year olds as that is what he was himself.

Alex's Pal- 3/4 to Successful Appeal & while not as talented he was not horriable. He was just an allowence horse but was a consistant 9 & 10 & change horse. He may not make it bigtime but I really think he may throw some useful runners.

Strong Hope is at the top of my list. The rest I will wait on until I see how they look at the first two year old sales (pedigree wise).

What does everyone think of Smarty Jones?

Speightstown, without a doubt. Almost of the yearlings of his that I saw this summer I liked. I think the big disappointment will be Medaglia D'Oro. Not impressed with his babies, and the numbers seemed to reflect that: his weanlings were much hotter than his yearlings.

I've seen a couple Medaglia's I like.

Although some have noticed back-at-the-knee being a pattern.

As a sleeper, how about Candy Ride? There are certainly enough of them in his first crop to put him in the top standings.

Guess it depends on their feet. They might do really, really well on the grass though.

As far as first year sires who will lead the top of the list, I like Smarty Jones. he has enough numbers and he has enough class (mares) to get enough runners to get him there. also like Candy Ride as well


As far as sires in general I like for first crop next year: Saarland, Peace rules and domestic dispute,

Lion Heart would be my early pick. It seemed like there was 1-2 nice ones at every sale I attended.

The MDs that I've seen were VERY big, extremely stout horses...leaning toward thick and somewhat hulky (for lack of a better word)...and I too have seen back at the knee.

One (in particular) was also significantly offset (moreso in his left knee than his right). He had a HUGE body and was VERY wide/broad thru the chest.

The ones I've seen were NOT particulary racy/athletic-looking types. Who knows though...MD might be just fine.

Not that I know anything but I thought that Saarland looks crooked in his conformation pictures - I'd be a bit leery of him.

Talented crooked horses never make good sires.
