Put it Back

Postby bcassidy » Wed Dec 05, 2007 5:34 pm

I have talked about Put It Back on this site before. My system scores him very high and at 7,500.00 I think he offers very nice value for a couple of my mares. What do others think of him? Has anyone seen him in the flesh? I am curious what his conformation looks like in person. I plan on seeing him before I sign the stallion contract but I would like to know more before I travel to florida. I also plan on looking at Trippi. Does anyone know how Trippi's book is doing? Can a good mare still get to him for 2008? I would much appreciate hearing from anyone on these stallions. Thanks for your input in advance.
best regards Brendan

Im sure most stallion's book are never "really" full if the right mare came along..........sh1t happens and one of the already booked mares owner's may have a change of plans.......never hurts to inquire.

I don't consider myself a great conformation expert, but I have seen Put It Back in person and thought he was a nice specimen of the classic sprinter type -- very powerful quarters, short cannons, typical In Reality in that he stands over more ground than you might think from his height and build. I didn't get the world's best look at his forelegs while standing but didn't see much of anything concerning there other than his being a little base-narrow, which of course is nothing that uncommon with a muscular, wide-chested type. I understand from some other Florida observers that he does tend to throwing foals that turn out in front and have problems with gait interference, so I'd probably avoid putting a mare to him that wasn't pretty correct in in front. He had a pretty calm, sensible attitude during the Bridlewood stallion show (which is when I saw him), which I'd consider a plus. I wouldn't expect this guy to get you a horse that wants more than a mile without a lot of help from the dam, but if you want a sprinter-miler, you could do a lot worse.

halo, I was afraid Trippi might be full.

Mahubah, Thank you so much for the physical description. I have a mare by Unbridled that would suit him very well. I am looking to add more backend to her and add more speed. Her front end is very good and she throws foals with very correct front ends. I wouldn't mind a smaller and more compact horse from her, as she stands almost 17h and is a little long backed.
The unbridled x In reality cross is a real plus as well.

Thanks again for the help
best regards Brendan

Saw him last year and remember him to be a good looking horse. I think he's a good deal and will serve a huge book this year and just may get called up to Ky. by the time you sell or race your foal.

He may or may not go to KY -- he's owned by Haras Santa Maria de Araras, which has a North American base in Florida and stands the horse at its Brazilian farm during the Southern Hemisphere season. (I'm assuming the reason he stands the Northern Hemisphere seasons at Bridlewood is that Haras Santa Maria doesn't have stallion facilities at its Florida farm.)
