You can not seem to pick a stallion? It seems this year in FLa nothing is floating my boat:( I have not heard any buzz really on anyone that has come into Fla this year. More like why is everyone leaving Fla.. Any one have any Favs this year for Fla? My first mare is due in a mth and I really need to get out of my funk and pick one for her

If she can't find something to suit in Florida, there probably isn't anything else that's going to suit south of Kentucky. We're kind of geographically isolated from the other major breeding areas down here, and the stallion ranks in the rest of the Southeast are mighty thin.

Yes unless I want to ship to Ky we are kind of stuck down here It just seems like nothing is popping out this year. Everyone I talk to here are shipping there mares to Ny and such to foal out even to reap the rewards. Im starting to think that Fl will just be a training state and breeding your really gambling more then it use to be.

When you see some of the big guys move out of the state. It really makes you wonder...

IMHO We have some very good stallions in Florida!
There are 25 stallions in Fl with progeny earnings above $1 million and another 16 above $500k progeny earnings. That means they are producing runners. What am I missing? What bloodline is your mare? What are you looking for Sales or Racing foal? Have you been to many of the farms to check out the stallions in person? Not being negative or argumentive but feel we do have some good stallions that can compliment your mare. Talk to the Farm Mgr's about their stallions and take some time to look the stallions over. Best of luck in your search I do know it is tough to decide who is best for a mare. cj

Thanks for your reply Cj:) I have 2 mares foaling this year a closing arguement and a bawana charlie. I Breed to sell but I also will race them. In other words I feel like if I make the Foal I will do everything in my power to support it through out. The cutie in my pic is a filly by Texas Glitter who just turned 2 and she will go to the races:) She is a wonderful filly. But I'm taking my time with her. Seems like Texas Glitter babies do better at 3 then 2.

You have a mare that crosses with Closing Arguement? I have to mention Successful Ways, if you have seen CA, Successful is a little taller, and is a very dark bay almost black. SW is also by Successful Appeal and out of a Devils Bag mare. He won both his races, trained by Nick Zito, and was scheduled to run in the Holy Bull Stakes. He took a bad mis-step near the rail and was injured. While you are out looking go by and see him at Ups and Downs farm. (In case you don't know we own SW)

Also check out Weekend Cruise, he has foals running now and is by AP Indy and is at the farm also (I don't own any of the other stallions there) . We are offering some pretty good incentives on SW too!

I think Repent is the real deal. No idea what you are looking to breed to said stallion but his first crop seems to be coming on and he is affordable. Could get a Big Horse. I saw him race in the prep to the La Derby and he was awesome - thought he would win the Derby that year.

I agree Repent is a nice looking individual and has some nice runners. I've seen El Nino Martin Farm, and he's nice also. Take a look at Weekend Cruise owned by Monte & Cathy Thomas at Ups and Downs Farm too.
He has a pedigree to die for! AP Indy and South Sea Dancer (dam of SIGNAL TAP), by Northern Dancer. Winner at 4 and 5, $62,200, 2nd Sacramento Handicap (R) (GG, $7,200), 3rd Daddy's Datsun Invit. Handicap (R) [L] (GG, $6,500). Sister to NORTHERNETTE, STORM BIRD, Northern State.
Cruise's 2007 runners earned $524,823 and I think he only has about 19-20 runners.
Just some thoughts and of course SW new for 2008 and going to be good!

What's wrong with Repent, Indian Ocean or With Distinction? Repent is siring some really nice runners at a reasonable fee. I bred two mares to Indian Ocean last season and he looks great! With Distinction is one of the nicest looking studs you'll ever come across. $7500 for a Storm Cat with speed? I love Florida!
