Can anyone give me an opinion of a stallion named Ugotta? He is by Seattle slew with Kris S on his dam's side. Does he have any value as a race sire?

Ugotta has very little going for him as a sire prospect, in my opinion. Obviously Seattle Slew is a terrific sire of sires, but Ugotta's female family isn't going to get anyone excited. His dam has never thrown a black-type runner, and his second dam produced only one stakes winner (granted, it was G1 winner Sir Beaufort, but still) from 12 of racing age. Also, Ugotta exhibited very little talent himself.

Check out his dam's catalog page here:

My advice, if you're in the PA market, is to look long and hard at the stallion roster. There are great stallions available with nice pedigrees and a ton of race record, and none of them will break your wallet with their stud fee. The stallion business is a VERY hard one. You have to be willing to go out and buy a good group of mares, spend money on advertising, and really bust your butt to get a stallion prospect up and running, to make him a success. Ugotta doesn't strike me as a horse I'd gamble on. If you're not considering buying this horse, but rather, just breeding to him, I still think you could do better.
