Wicklow Highlands to Louisiana

Postby Joie » Sat Feb 16, 2008 3:47 pm

My boy Wick will be spending 2008 and 2009 in Opelousas, Louisiana. Please drop me a line if anyone wants farm contact information. I know it's late in the season, but I *do* believe they are going to be offering some compliemntary breedings this year...

They breed QH primarily:

He is not on their stallion roster, as he is not being leased by Meche Farms...he is just housed there (for lack of a better word), and that is where mares will go for breeding.

Then is he going to be stabled there so the owner can send mares to him so his foals will be LA accredited?? How are they going to get mares to him if they don't advertise him at least locally??

Just curious??

*I* own the stallion. I live in Illinois. I am not getting ANY mares to him here, nor do I personally breed for racing. My partner and I decided the best thing for the stallion was to send him on a lease somewhere he can get more mares. He will be stabled in LA for the 2008 and 2009 seasons, unless we are not satisfied with the quality of care and the number of mares he breeds. If all goes well, he will stay indefinately. I have been assured that he will cover AT LEAST 15 mares. (Last year, he bred ONE thoroughbred mare.) I have sent 2 thoroughbred mares down with him. One mare is due to foal in March, and she AND the foal will stay in LA for the next few seasons. The other mare is a clients and she will be on lease for the 2008 season for a 2009 foal.

As far as advertising, I have no idea what sort of advertising they will do, if any, this season...which is why I posted here. If you are interested in the name of the person who is leasing him, feel free to PM me.
