Stallions with bad knees

Postby Derby2004 » Thu Apr 03, 2008 9:36 am

Can I get some names of stallions with bad knees or their sireline with bad knees? I have a mare with an old injured knee and her sire was known for bad knees. Also get some suggestions on stallions with good knees.

first obvious to mind is Storm Cat, offset knees, he seems to be able to pass
knee problems on.
and Tiznow has sired early runners who developed knee problems (slab fractures,) two of which were out of family 1X mares.

To quote Frank Mitchell in "Racehorse Breeding Theories":

"There was more than a trace of offset knees in the Bold Ruler clan; mating Secretariat back to some of the family members might have been total disaster."

Of Boundary John Sparkman writes: "his career—and perhaps his distance capacity—were restricted by his markedly offset knees."

Rommy Faversham writes of the mating of Buckpasser to Bold Ruler mares: "The results were less than good. Subsequent theorization has included observations that Buckpasser often got horses with knee and foreleg problems, while Bold Ruler had a tendency to pass on arthritis."
