Roar of the Tiger
Any thoughts on him? Has anyone seen him in person? Or, seen any of his foals?
Re: Roar of the Tiger
hi Sock Monkey
Yes & yes.
He is (from my perspective) a hulky, lumbering, palooka/unathletic-looking type.
If that's what you're looking for...ROTT might be just the guy for you.
Based on the impression he left me with, seems that a more befitting name than Roar of the Tiger might have been...TrumpetofthElephnt.
Respectfully

I delivered a filly by him for a client a few weeks back. She is nice but on the smaller, compact side. I dont know where she is getting it from but she hates people and is very standoffish. I do like the way she is put together and she moves really nice. If you send me an email I will forward some pictures of her to you.

He's got his first starter going on Friday April 11th at Laurel.
A filly named Fight Like A Tiger and she's trained by Tim Salzman whose the only trainer in the race who hits with a high percentage of 2yos and first time starters.
Salzman also has an Outflanker filly in this race.
This Roar Of The Tiger filly shows a quick gate work about a month ago so that's encouraging. If I were picking the winner of this race I'd go with Fight Like A Tiger based on her showing some life in that gate work and based on her trainer being the only one in the race known to do something with 2yos and firsters. Plus, the dam of this Roar Of The Tiger filly already has two 2yo winners.
In an early, early baby race you'd have to be nuts to ignore the runners from the guy whose 2yos have a 19% win rate and whose first time starters have a 17% win rate and whose horses debuting in MdSpWt company win at a 21% clip when pretty much everyone else in the field is in the single digits in those categories. While you can't ignore this Roar Of The Tiger filly for reasons stated above, it's a small field and everyone is going to key on the same things I did and that means she's liable to be 8/5 which would tempt you to pass this race entirely from a betting standpoint.

She finished a good second as the 2-1 favorite.
