I started following Unusual Heat this year and I have been blown away by his results (He is currently number six on the General Sire List- Bloodhorse).

The son of Nureyev (out of a MG1SW mare) already has five stakes winners in 2008 and three of them are graded stakes winners! He also has more stakes winners on synthetic surfaces (4) than any other sire in America this year. His daughter, Golden Doc A, won the Grade 1 Las Virgenes at Santa Anita earlier this year after losing by just a nose to Indian Blessing in a G2 in January. Golden Doc A runs in the Kentucky Oaks on Friday and is considered a top contender.

Unusual Heat's AEI is up to 2.12, which is higher than Giant's Causeway, Unbridled's Song, Elusive Quality, Stormy Atlantic, Silver Deputy, Indian Charlie, etc. The difference is that his comp index is only 1.08! No other sire in the top 100 on the general sire list has a comp index that low. HIS AEI IS NEARLY DOUBLE HIS COMP INDEX.
Even though part of the meet was canceled b/c of the track, Unusual Heat offspring won 26 races at Santa Anita last meet (a record). He already has four winners at Hollywood Park so far this meet that I've seen and TWO OF THOSE WERE IN STAKES ON SUNDAY (Spenditallbaby and Bel Air Sizzle). Another one of his progeny, Medzendeekron, ran third in the G2 Tiznow Stakes on Sunday.

His daughter, Lethal Heat, broke her maiden in March and won a Grade 3 one month later. She's undefeated (3-3) and untested.

Everyday I am more and more impressed by this sire. Is he the best sire in the world that no one is talking about? Has anyone else noticed this guy? I'd love to hear your input.

Perhaps you should buy a mare or two and breed to him?

Aside from Silver Deputy, Unusual Heat is considerably older than the other stallions you mentioned. His stud fee is listed as private and he has no page in the stallion register, has he been pensioned?

Madelyn- Why buy a mare to breed to him when I already have four that would be perfect for him :lol:

It's not too feesable for me to breed to him considering my farm is in Kentucky and he stands in California (Old English Rancho)... but as good as he has been, I would actually consider shipping the mares for the right deal.

i know in california, unsual heat's can sprint, go two turns, poly, dirt, turf.. it literary does not matter. he is a pretty good stallion

He is a very good if not excellent stallion, I wish he didn't stand in California.... This is just yet another reason why AI would be so beneficial to the breed....I will never send a mare that far to be covered by a stallion especially if she has a foal by her side....

Apparently his stud fee for 2008 is $12,500. Here is a link I found listing the 2008 leading sires of West Region......his stats are impressive.

Unusual Heat entered stud in 1998 and covered 17 mares, his fee climbed to $15,000.00 in 2006. He is an outstanding sire but has a low stakes winner percentage to starters. He covered 47 mares last year with a high of 99 in 2004. He is currently the number one sire of turf runners and number 4 on synthetic tracks nationally.

I saw a contract to him earlier this year and I'm pretty sure his stud fee is actually $20,000 with a 10 % booking fee.

Actually I think $12,500 was his stud fee at the beginning of the year, but his managers amended it. :lol:

Pretty sure he's booked full this year. He's definitely not pensioned. Pretty amazing, these results of his, since his first crops were all owner's own mares or free breedings. It will be interesting to see what happens with the crops from '07 on (I don't know that he was quite so 'hot' before last year, maybe I should go back one more year there).

You really should contact them asking if they'd be interested in a deal where you send these four mares to Unusual Heat and in exchange they doobie doobie do.

Unless they know you're interested there's no chance of them offering you a deal, so you might as well contact them as you have nothing to lose.
