Doesn't Al The Great stand for like 5k in PA?

Nobiz Like Shobiz may be "intriguing" but he doesn't belong in Kentucky, not even first season. I only see him there courtesy of Old Friends. Both his sire and grandsire were exiled from Kentucky after sorely disappointing stud careers, and his great grandsire Cormorant was never good enough to stand in KY. This is a sireline trying to mercifully stamp itself out. If he belongs anywhere, it's back in NY, which might speed up the process.

He deserves a start in KY.

He was an excellent racehorse and what makes a great sire has not really been pinpointed to this point with any notable success.

Maybe he can pass it on.

1. if there is a such thing as a horsey model, he's it.

2. as BAS as his sireline is, his DAMline is just as good. He's not your father's Albert the Great.

anytime you see a dam that was bred to storm cat, she had to be worth something to someone. Grade 1 winning sons with storm cat as a damsire from a decent dam line don't start off in NY IMHO.

at 10k at a Kentucky farm I think he will be an interesting prospect

History tells me that the odds are seriously against good runners by bad sires as stallion prospects. After all, Albert the Great got the same chance and failed...and he was also a G1 winner by a bad sire. I don't need to be hit over the head a second generation to take the hint. But you're welcome to.

Let's name all the good recent sires by bad sires. There's Maria's Mon and.....? Anyone care to chime in?

Odds are against ANY sire. only 15% or so percent of sires actaully ever "make it" so to speak.


I agree.. not the biggest albert the great fan, although i think Cormorant is somewhat underrated as a sire.. but you are completely neglecting his damline

look i'm not saying he's the next mr. p, but there are alot worse things standing in kentucky than a grade 1 winner that can get 2 turns that looks like a model and his a respectable damline

What exactly do you see in the damline that's so special?

The only foal worth anything his dam threw was him. His 2nd dam threw absolutely nothing of note. His 3rd dam Lilt was one of the weakest producing daughters of the good Swoons Tune.

And while you can make a case for Cormorant being a good regional sire, his lasting legacy, if any, may only come through his daughters.

I don't see a lot in the family to suggest that Nobiz deserves a Kentucky birth or anything more than a 5k stud fee.

In the Sept. 20 issue of the Blood Horse, Darby Dan are advertising Nobiz Like Shobiz on the same page with Sun King. Anyone know if they have declared a fee for NLS? He's not in the stallion register or on their website.
