Well, our long awaited Cozzene foal out of our Trempolino mare was born yesterday! It is a colt. Looks like he will be grey as he is heavily ticked and has grey coming around his eyes and nostrils.

So far, mom and baby are doing well! This foal is a real sweetheart and is already following people around. Probably the friendliest most laid back foal we have had to date.

Thought we would share his photo.........

I visited the farm a few years back, Cozzene was out in his paddock. Beautiful thoroughbred. Congrats on your new arrival!

Congrats!

Pokey,
Your little man is a knockout! I'm a major Cozzene groupie (our foundation mare is his daughter) and love the pedigree on your baby (grass top and bottom.) Good luck with him and may he win many races for you in the future!

Thanks, guys!!

He is part of our first small crop of state breds for a Regional breeding program so we have our fingers crossed he can run! Dam has produced 2 open MSW winners/Allowance horses. She is from the family of Champions Green Forest and Epitome-also tail female to Bold Irish in her 4th generation.

Thus, we are pretty excited about him even though we put in a special order for a filly! LOL

You foal is a beauty! I have been a Cozzene fan back to his racing days. Try to follow his babies with virtual stable. He is so fabulous!
He is the one that gave me a soft spot for greys. Good luck to you!!!

Thanks for your comments...he's a real lovebug too!!! :P

We, too, have always loved Cozzene and finally bit the bullet and bred to him. Hope this boy can run but if not- he'll be one fancy hunter! *wink*

Hi Pokeyman,

Congratulations on your foal.

Cozzene does well with other Euro blood like Trempolino. and though he's now 28yo I still sent clients to him this year and their mares are in foal. Gainesway is very cautious about his future but he's remained rather consistent in his percentage of mares bred that have foals over the past 15 years (> 70%).

One of eyes I respect most for pure conformation always cites his sire, Caro, as the best conformed horse that he'd ever seen.

Cozzene's quite a stallion.

Regards,

Pete

Thank you! Yes, we were kind of hoping he'd stay bay so we would be able to continue to see his markings! LOL

No, we don't have a name yet........ 8)

Congratulations, Pokeyman. i am very envious because I LOVE Cozzene and would love to breed to him but he is out of my price range. Best of Luck with your colt and here's hoping he becomes a successful runner and retires to stud to pass on this great line. (You can hunt him in the off season).

Trozzene.......could call him Troy for short...thought Troy was always a quiet bold name...or Cozzelino and call him Cozzy for short.....the marking does look like a DR.Seues character the skinny ones with the big hair!!! what were they called???
