I know he's the sire of Tiz Now, but what do his get do best in--sprints, classic distances, turf?

I saw Bill Casner of Winstar on HRTV during the Keeneland sales broadcast, and he commented that he has no doubt that Cee's Tizzy could have been a top 10 stallion had he stood in Kentucky. Granted, he's a little biased but nonetheless, it's a meaningful compliment giving that Cee's Tizzy has not had the best of opportunities in standing in California.

If you want to talk a California stallion that had every right to stand in Kentucky it's In Excess.

You're talking about a horse that won 4 G1's ranging from a mile to 11f. He had amazing speed and was exceptionally versatile.

But because his pedigree was not commercial, he found himself in California where he continually improves his mares and provides one of the best and purest sources of speed in the world. .

Tiznow is a good sort who get's runners on everything. Per the opportunity he's had, I'm not sure he'd really be a top 10 stallion in Kentucky. In fact, I'd question if he would have been a consistently top 30 stallion.

I'm confused, is the 'top 10 stallion in Kentucky' reference regarding Cee's Tizzy? Because Tiznow's #2 on the general sire list last time I checked. Just wanting to make sure I'm associating the "he" pronoun with the right horse.

Well, It's hard to speculate one way or the other of what coulda, shoulda been, however is son (Tiznow) we can agree is doing very well, currently ranked 2nd by earnings and 1st by N.A. earnings.

Notice that a son of Cee's Tizzy (Tiznow), a son of In Excess (Indian Charlie), and a son of Bertrando (Officer), have all done well standing in Kentucky. I've had the opinion that if you want to win the derby, Tiznow would could certainly be the right type of stallion for those on a limited budget at only 30K. He produces the right type for the classics imo, and at a bargain, relative to some of the other sires.

I was speaking of Cee's Tizzy, not Tiznow with the top 10 ranking comment. I can def see how it wasn't clear when I typed it though.

It's certainly speculation.

Tiznow is having a very hot year and his get are terrific on synthetics, but overall, with an obvious few exceptions, don't seem quite as brilliant on the actual dirt.

Tiznow also throws some conformational issues but when he gets a good one, they're big with a great hip.

He's actually throwing foals that are reminiscent of his sire line in their versatility.

From what I've read, possibly here, In Excess is not a good choice for long term soundness.

Thank heavens the In Reality line is still chugging along!

As far as I'm concerned Cee's Tizzy is the best value at 7.5k and he's getting up there in years. Not only has he had the best match with Cee's Song but as stated before he moves the mares up ( Gourmet Girl, etc...), I've seen first time two-year olds by him win, turf, distance etc....

Cee's Tizzy is undoubtedly a terrific value. One has to be careful with the Tiznows, the young ones are fragile. Shouldn't be a surprise given that Tiznow himself didn't race until three. He's only a fourth crop sire, and Tiznow's AEI vs. CI is rising as is his average earners per winner. I don't think he has topped out yet. Apparently his stats on dirt are better than I thought, and he has had a few do well on turf also.

I'm glad to see the Man O War line continue also, and am rooting for Tiznow although we also have Officer, Honour and Glory and various others from that line in the top 100.

I've seen several of the young Tizbuds and thought there was a coarse look to them. As if someone put different body parts together, stuck them together, and pronounced them whole. The Cee's Tizzy's I've seen at the same age were quite nice. Don't know how the Tizbuds developed into yearlings, perhaps they grew together and came out nice.

If I remember correctly, Tizbud is a 1st crop sire this year? And he didn't get that many mares so hasn't a great many in the pool from his first crop.

Tizbud entered stud in 2005. His first foals are two year olds of 2008.

Thanks Docojoy, that's what I was meaning by 1st crop sire. I haven't heard of any winners by Tizbud yet.
