Since the question is the best A.P. Indy line sire in PA, I'd nominate Ecclesiastic by Pulpit, the multiple graded stakes winner.

Ecclesiastic stands for Walmac at Regal Heir Farm for $5,000. He's by Pulpit (AP Indy) and out of the nice (racing and producing) mare Starry Dreamer. He definitely would deserve a look if you are looking for some AP Indy by way of Pulpit. Pulpit is turning into a pretty good sire of sires with his sons Sky Mesa, Tapit, Purge, Stroll, Corninthian, Essence of Dubai, etc.

Ecclesiastic won a couple of grade III's and put up a couple fo good times at 6F and 7F. He's no world beater, but looks like he could be good for the PA program. He's also a 1/2 to War Front.

What do you think of Oratory that stands in MD?

I would be a little leary of Oratory based on the fact that he only made 5 career starts, all as a three year old. He did win the Peter Pan impressively earning a nice Rag and Beyer number so obviously he had talent. He doesn't have as good of a female family as Ecclesiastic. And, if you plan on foaling and racing in PA you will earn less breeders reward money than you would had you used a PA stallion. That said, I have seen neither in person so I would take my opinions with a grain of salt!

I have seen Ecclesiastic in person (in late August) and he was much more impressive than he looks in his photo in the B-Horse stallion register and the one they were using in ads. The gals at Regal Heir said that photo was taken right after he was taken out of training. He was a very imposing individual.

Thanks for the comments. I think there could be a lot more stallion options in PA next year, especially if the slots initiative fails in MD.

I think the Md. slots referendum will pass. The last statewide poll I saw had about 55 percent of voters "for" them.

Bohemia's right - Ecclesiastic is much nicer in person than in his picture. I also liked Oratory, but liked Ecclesiastic better, for the same reasons both bohemia & bfinellc stated [and have PA-resident mares for sale who are in foal to him].

Basketball Court (by Doneraile Court) is another Slew-line stakes winner standing in PA. Actually a fantastic looking individual worth checking out!

Re: Basketball Court - nothing to suggest he'll be successful as a sire, as his sire, Doneraile Court, only has an AEI about 1.60. Also, he's not exactly standing at what you would call one of the better facilities in the state.
