The owner never allows his colts to set foot on a track at age 4 and the farms accomodate him.... if they didn't he might reconsider.

My vote is for The White Fox who is standing at Hopewell Farms in Kentucky for $3500. This guy won 1 of 8 life-time starts (at River Downs nonetheless) and earned $8,141 life-time. He has a horrible female family. What is Hopewell thinking!

I think that one is all about the novelty of him being a white thoroughbred.

At the top end Big Brown has got to be the most overpriced considering his pedigree.

At every level The Green Monkey wins hands down. At least Ready's Image WON a race...

War Pass enters the fray at 30k. Aren't there other fragile/quick sons of Cherokee Run available for much less and a few proven duds as well. I say if your are so in love with Cherokee Runs why not pony up another 10k and go to CHEROKEE RUN.

I would love to go with Big Brown, but The Green Monkey has to take the cake, he was never better than 3rd and has a terrible female family. And is by my favorite sire of 4 race wonders Forestry.
Ready's Image was a good one too.

On a regional level I vote for any of the Warren's Thoroughbreds Stallions.

The Green Monkey wins by virtue of all the publicity he received. I will say this, I saw a pic of him and the sucker is gorgeous.

Two year old Run Away and Hide who ran 3 times and enters stud for $7,500. Son of City Zip. Are there any from this line who can tolerate training?

OK call me crazy

At $5k the TGM might be a bargain? (That's before any back door deals.) I just go to the fact that the top bloodstock buyers on the planet liked what they saw in this guy says a lot, even now that he has failed as a race horse. His action at high speed was flawless and perfectly balanced conformation (their opinion - not mine).

He didn't win - but then there are some outstanding sires who didn't even start. Danzig earned all of $32k (maybe twice that today)

What would be interesting to know is what stopped him on the racetrack - something measurable or was it attitude? Is that something that a mare line can correct? There may be a lot less to correct in him than in other 'proven' and higher priced stallions.

I notice he has a lot of inbreeding to some major studs (In Reality, Bold ruler, Dr. Fager (!). Maybe time for an outcross mare?

In the beauty contest which is commercial sales he has a lot going for him. If he can throw half his looks and early speed, and gets bred to some quality mares early on and gets a big horse, watch out. $5k may look like a great bargain down the road.

There are plenty of proven losers out there commanding a lot more. Winners in the investment game know when a commodity has been over sold. TGM got SO much bad PR last year I think the negative sentiment may be driving his value too low. Time will tell of course.

Is there anybody out there who agrees with any of this? I know there are plenty who don't...

If nothing else, his babies should win halter class at the Va horse shows hands down.

but dazing was brilliant in his 3 starts. undefeated and never really tested. just ended up getting hurt.

3/5ths off the track record in his first race. yeah I don't think you can put the green monkey int he same catogory as dazing.

and bone chips stopped his career. it wasn't racing ability I promise you.
