Unbridled's Song is hot. Nice weekend.

Yes, he is hot right now. I actually like this new colt a lot. There's a good bit of stamina on the dam side and wouldn't be shocked if 10f was well within his scope.

Old Fashioned, from the same family as French Deputy. He beat nothing today but he did look very well in doing it. In Larry Jones barn he def has the look of a player as a 3 year old. I think his plans are to winter at FG.

I should have added his dam Collect Call was a very nice racemare herself

he did look really good doing it, though he got away with 6 furlongs in 1:14. I don't think the jock moved the whole race.

I would like to see some opintions on the Unbrideds Song / Aven of Flags cross and why it worked. It produced not only Midshipman but also Red Bullet's $2.5-million two-year-old at Barretts May (fastest 1/8 in auction history, :9.6) This one never started.

Neither of these offspring had inbreeding for several generations. Nick or roll of the dice?

Unbridled's Song over Avenue of Flags... Can't imagine a worse combination for soundness.

I agree. I swore I wouldn't breed to an UB stallion due to their unsoundness. I have an AoF mare. This turn of events does intrigue me, tho.

Rather than following the PedigreeQuery Party Line which apparently states that all horses related to Unbridleds Song are unsound, why not just breed to a sound one like Even The Score who made 29 starts over 4 years of racing with 750K in earnings?

I still dont' see how everyone is necessarily wrong.

note.. no one ever said that he didn't throw good babies. very good ones. brilliant ones. but very, very unsound ones.

Old fashioned might be good, but that does not take away from the fact that unbridled song does throw unsound babies.

Collect Call had an even shorter career than UBS.. a very good one, she was a graded stakes winner in just 3 starts and udefeated.. but I am not goin to hold my breath waiting for this one to be in the derby gate.

UBS averages right around the same number of starts as most of the stallions in his price bracket and above.

They're fast as 2 yo's and get pushed as juveniles even though most have large frames that need more time.
