Stallion Register 2009 Stallions

Postby aardvark » Tue Dec 02, 2008 4:24 pm

Just noticed they have 2009 1st year stallion link now.

Here are the ones that got me to look:

Divine Park
Lewis Michael
Zanjero
Rush Bay

Opinions on any of these?

For what it's worth, I made mention in another thread that we went and saw Divine Park at Airdrie. We loved him; great presence about him and very nicely balanced with good size throughout. My opinion is the son of Chester House will do well at stud.

We also saw Lewis Michael and thought he was a nice horse. Nothing really jumped out for us though.

We have not seen the others. I am going to steer clear of Cherokee Run sons at stud as neither Yonaguska or Kafwain have thrilled at stud.

Have not seen Rush Bay though he was a nice turf horse.

Another 1st year stallion I like is First Defence. He is not perfectly conformed (toes out quite a bit) but is well proportioned.

Hope my thoughts help some. Good luck.

Tesio,

Thanks for your comments.

I agree that Divine Park might stand a chance given Chester House success with limited crops. I actually thought he would stand for a little less out of the gates though.

Really no reason to see a rahy son make it at stud either. He has been at it long enough that you shouldnt have to guess. I would like to see Lewis Michael though.

Rush Bay just seemed to be a well accomplished horse for MD to pick up. Thought he might actually do well first year at the sales.

Zanjero -- I actually like the Cherokee Run sons for runners, though admittedly I havent crunched all the stats lately. Cherokee Run nicks well with all my mares too.
