Evaluating bloodlines

Postby radrider » Sun Dec 14, 2008 7:47 am

Looking at a filly with an influx of top sires in her pedigree, along with some classics. With these stallions for bloodlines what is the opinion of the bloodlines themselves? Which sires stand out most besides the most recent in ability and prowess?

Secretariat

It matters a good deal less who is in the pedigree, than where the individuals appear. It would be impossible to form an opinion about the filly's bloodlines without more information.

Not trying to evaluate the bloodlines themselves persay, would like to know more of the achievements and prowess of the ancestors themselves. I already know about Unbridled and Storm Cat - Unbridled is her grandsire, Storm Cat is her dam's grandsire. But the rest, obviously Secretariat as a broodmare sire and Triple Crown winner but the rest of the ancestors I know nothing about.

You might want to put the name of the horse in the Pedigree query and look up the pedigree of each horse. Then click on the little i icon which will trigger a drop down box with all sorts of info on the horse.

This might be a good way to get a overview of each animal.

This is a good site for reading about some of the horses in your list.
