Event of the Year
Zinn21, I was thinking the same thing, because many of the Slews that bombed, later developed into pretty good broodmare sires, & having Mr. P on the bottom will just add to his chances.
I a mare to him and got a nice filly, who will be going into training soon. I'm very guarded about her chances because EOTY chops his mares in half.
I sold her but, I still would like to get some breeders awards.

EOTY chops his mares in half
Interesting comment that I have not heard before. What does that mean, exactly? I've also got a lovely soon to be 2 y old filly that we've put 60 days into and is now turned out, playing and growing up. We're looking to the fall hopefully for a first start. But she's done everything right so far.

EOTY AEI vs CI
What I mean by chopping his mares in half, is that EOTY's AEI (Average Earnings Index) is 1.08 whereas his CI is 2.01 (Comparable Index -what those same mares produced when bred to other stallions) is twice that level. Currently his AEI is .56 (1.0 is average) thus far this year, in other words half the average earnings level for horses in N.A.
EOTY got some very good mares that were producing at 2.01 average, (twice the earning index for runners in N.A.) but when bred to him those mares runners are just a shade over average in earning index. EOTY significantly lowers the performance of mares's bred to him.
About 2/3rds of all stallions will have a lower AEI than CI, for various reasons, but EOTY's is significant.
Anyone care to speculate on his price? Will 30k be to much??
IMO Way too much! However the thought has occurred to me that he may do well in another country/Southern Hemisphere, etc.
No matter how well bred, what a fantastic runner, a very handsome stallion who throws well conformed foals, he's simply not getting the job done!

Doh, I knew all that, for some reason when I read your original comment I thought you were speaking about something physical.
We're hoping our filly will be one of his exceptions.

EOTY
Docjocoy, Best wishes with your filly. EOTY favors the fillies as his SPI is 1.34 vs 1.01 for the colts. If you don't mind, what type of mare (pedigree) did you breed to him?
I will be surprised if he does not become a solid broodmare sire.
