Anyone have an opinion on him, seen any of his foals?

I like him. He's on the top of my bargain sires to watch list.

His first foals have been hideous to look at. I liked Southern Image on paper, so I paid a lot of attention to them in September... and couldn't have been more disappointed. Doesn't mean they won't run, but I wouldn't bet on him.

My bad (senior moment). My stallion to watch is Ready's Image, not Southern Image. I need to get my glasses changed.

Are they just coarse and unattractive (typical Halo line), or are they train wrecks with bad legs? Most of the Halos haven't been pretty types, but a lot of them have run if they had halfway decent wheels under them.

Fwiw, I love the Halo line, and crooked horses can be runners, but ... the handful I saw at OBS and Keeneland were not pretty.

The individual parts were not coming together.

Hopefully there are some good ones out there.

Mahubah... that's a good point. The Halo line has never been known for getting pretty types. However, the Southern Images I saw were bad from all angles i.e. balance, leg alignment, and overall eye-appeal. He could always surprise me, but I give him a near zero chance at making it.

Thanks, Rahy, that clarifies the problem. Surface pretty doesn't matter except at the sales, but if he's getting foals that just aren't well put together, that's another story.

Ready's Image at $12500, he is on my seriously overpriced list.
