I hope he stamps himself as a source of some hickory, in spite of his own record and issues, because I would love to see some Unbridled mares go his way. His 6th dam produced Le Fabuleux and Unbridled is the best source of that blood.

But as of yet, I can see why people are shying away from it.

Candy Buttons... She's fine right now LB, finally back in training, breezing again. Should go to the trainer in a week or two, but he might wait till Belmont opens to bring her up. Time to move her along, get her racing.

I was a big Candy Ride fan. Read all I could on his career at the time he was racing.

Good luck with Candy Buttons.
If CR's progeny inherit his racing athleticism and speed...they'll be big winners.

CR passed the field, and Medaglia D' Oro'on the final turn in the SA Derby like MDO was "tied to a pole". Horse blew the field away. Effortlessly.

Very,very fast and strong.
I'm not surprised he is turning out winners.

*******************THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANOUNCEMENT TO ALL OWNERS WHO OWN OFFSPRING OF CANDY RIDE************

Before doing anything drastic with your horse, please run them on turf. Please. Pretty please.

It has taken people 3 years to finally get that this is a turf sire. and a damn, damn good, potentially world class one.

He was visited by some super mares this year and they turned down 200 applicants. Farrish bred some of his best mares to him.

Don't forget that some of his offspring are very big and will take time to mature.

Shergar wrote:As for Candy Rides pedigree, there is really nothing on the top side that screams out turf. Now his distaff side is another story. His damsire is by Blushing Groom out of a Lyphard mare. Now that was a lethal combo. for great turf runners. Still a dirt pedigree over a turf one.

I think there's a ton of turf on his sire side, but hidden. Herbager was a top-notch turf runner and turf sire. Hoist the Flag was serious turf talent, and the Mock Orange branch of Alablue is heavy on turf talent.

FWIW his 2nd broodmare sire Farnesio was not only serious turf talent, but a serious stayer. Anybody wanting to stretch him out might try for that bloodline. His extended female line, although in Argentina for 3 generations, is largely French, with a ton of very high-class French runners in every quarter of his dam's pedigree. Bred to the right mares, I suspect not only he'd be an incredible turf sire but would also get distance.

CANDY BUTTONS never made it to the track. Showed a lot of promise... hopefully she will show some of her talent as a broodmare. Sent her to MIZZEN MAST.

in 3 years, he's produced all of 1 horse that has excelled on dirt, capt candyman can.

the rest of his kids really excel on syenthics and they all eventually get switched to turf.

this is a turf sire. just like people will realize pleasantrly perfect is a turf sire, regardless if he won the BCC or not. the sooner people realize.
