Arkansas stallions

There are bunch standing, but the best one I know of--Pine Bluff--has moved to Texas or Louisiana. My other choice would have been Proper Reality, but I can't figure out if he's still there.

Any suggestions?

There's a son of Sharpen Up named Sharkey who looks rather interesting to me and another named West Bouyant by Gone West who also looks interesting. The latter had 51 starts so he has to be tough. Do either of these guys have any sort of progeny records?

another one who looks interesting to me is Proper Ridge.

Please remember that I would not be breeding for a dirt sprinter.

OMG a subject I can actually chime in on and be relevant lol

storm and a half is usually the leading arkansas sire.

AP Million is a really nicely bred stallion down in royal arkansas. probably your best bet if you dont' want a sprinter.

hesabull was probably the best runner of the bunch of stallions down here.

BDW, have you gone to see any of these studs? Take a weekend and do a farm visit to see what they look like in flesh. Bring a camera and get us some pictures!!!

actually I am going to hot springs not this weekend, but next weekend and royal arknasas is right outside of hot springs. I just might do that.

I just had a Hesabull filly foaled in La a couple of nights ago. I honestly think he is the by far the best value in AR to get a racehorse. He is very underrated IMO just you tube the 1997 BC Sprint & you will see how fast he really was. He was also a very game racehorse. Its been a while but I remember him being a very solid very QH type. His pedigree is nothing fancy but his sire was a millionaire that won the Met Mile & ran 3rd in the BC Sprint & his dam was a stakes winner & G1 placed & multiple graded stakes producer. He may not get you a G1 winner but chances are he will get you a winning racehorse. Storm and a Half has done well for all he has had to do with but I actually like Primary Suspect better who is also at McDowells farm & he will have the numbers on Storm and a Half in the next couple of crops as I'm pretty sure he got most if not all of of Bill's mares as he owns Primary Suspect himself. For some reason I thought Proudest Romeo was moved to La but he is still on the AR sire list on TT so I'm not sure. If you take a trip to McDowells be sure & stop by & check out Ile St Louis as he stands at a farm just down the road. He is a very big all stallion of a horse that is bred very well as he is tail female to Lalun close. He has a good one that a friend of mine bred in the 10th race Sat night at Delta named Chief Jay. Actually my mare that just foaled the Hesabull filly has a half bro in that race as well in Stoney Gold. Honestly I'm not even sure if Proper Reality breeds many if any mares anymore as he is well into his 20s. The horse they are pushing at Kilkerry is Sea Prince who is a Storm Cat out of Tout Charmant but didnt run much. I think he broke his mdn but that was about it. It depends on what you have of course but to me I would rank Hesabull the best bet in AR with Primary Suspect as a usable horse. Storm and a Half is fine as well just not my taste.

vineyride, sorry to rant & not answer your question but I could not recomend any of the stallions you listed as I would think raising a foal by any of them would be a waste of time & money. Pine Bluff would have fit more what you may be looking for but he wasent getting very many mares in foal anyway. You may want to go take a look at Ile St Louis while most of his so far are more sprinters there is no reason why he could not produce a good 2 turn horse. I honestly dont know why if you are breeding in AR you want a two turn horse anyway as most state bred mdn races at 3/4 as are the four state bred stakes they have at Oaklawn which will be this weekend. If you really want to breed to a distance horse look at Distant Mirage pedigree & if intrested pm me & I could fix you up with a real good deal on him.

I am with Tom Fool on Hesabull. Very Impressive animal in the flesh. This horse along with some other stallions was in the numbers with the Diamond Legends Farm abuse case and he basically didnt have much progeny for a couple of years.

Funontherun is the best $500 dollar investment in the state. Not sure what his story is, but he showed some heart as a racer and hasn't had a lot of progeny himself. I first saw him in the pasture from a distance and didnt think anything remarkable, but up close he is a taller more substantial horse than I imagined. Again, part of the abuse case and had very little work while at Diamond Legends.

Father Steve looks much better in the flesh than the photos of him I saw. If you want to try and add some size he might be your ticket. This horse showed some racing talent but was injured I believe.

I also liked Deelightful Irving better in person than in photo. This guy wasn't too far removed from the track when I saw him

I have only been to Lake Hamiltoin Equine so can't speak about other sires except that if Fan The Flame looks half as good as his photo....this horse tempts me to go have a closer look. I have been wanting a closer look at District so now that Fan the Flame has moved to the same farm I will go have a look. If anyone wanted to give me an analysis of FTF pedigree I would be grateful.

Didn't Stark Ridge move to Ark? He was a good breed to race in Florida a few years ago. Great pedigree and family on him.
