Strive sure is off to a great start, whereas the other freshman Deputy Minister (Minister's Wild Cat) is kind of floundering at this juncture. I hope MWC turns a corner perhaps with the 3 y.o.s, but Tommy Town has a lot on the line with their guarantee that MWC will be leading freshman sire in Ca. Interesting that both stallions have a similar pedigree with RAN in the 4th through the dam line.

I was told by another breeder that Strive is standing at Pat Youngman's Pepper Oaks, but is not being bred to outside mares. If you recall Youngman closed the farm, to the public in July of 08.

Hey fastappy, where ya been? Is Strive at Pepper Oaks? I've driven by there a few times this spring and I thought PO was up for sale. Now maybe I just assumed that from something I read, or the kind of sad state that the farm looked like, not run down, just empty.
I'm hoping Minister's Wild Cat will take off, I've got him in the TIA contest. :D

Hi Docjocoy! Perhaps my source is wrong, if the place looks vacant. You have to love that Wygod breeding on Strive! I would sure take a look at him.

Hey here's a link on Strieve which is dated, however. http://www.pedigreequery.com/forum/view ... ght=strive

Hey, best wishes for your 2010 foals!

I inquired about Strive at the beginning of this year, and was told he just stood the single season (2006), and then they stopped on him. However, they said they would consider standing him again if he hit with his first crop. I believe he still resides at Pepper Oaks.

Unusual to do it that way, but with a stakes winner already, I think he just might be back in business in 2010...!

I hope he still is at Pepper Oaks. That farm is so lovely and so many of them have been sold, chopped up, or developed. They dispersed many of their horses, so my assumption of the sale of that farm hopefully was premature.

Thanks Doc! Thisnearlywasmine aka "Junior" got somewhere between 18-20 mares (I don't have the final count yet) and all but one got in foal, as the owner (who works at the ranch) is shooting for an early foal. Overall, that's pretty darn good given the economy.

I hope to have his 1st starter (I hope), since I started breeding him, ready by time GGF opens up. I've bred him to some nice mares, so I got my fingers crossed for this winters performers. :D

That's great news appy. Still think he has plenty of bullets in the holster. Not surprised he got a high pregnancy rate. Pancho does a great job with the stallions and mares..
