Repriced

Postby madelyn » Wed Feb 02, 2005 7:18 am

I might be able to get him for a small bit of money, NG, so I would not send a maiden mare. The mares that I have I could send are Luv That Security, Momma's Garden or Miss Ballet. LTS and MB are enormous mares, MG is 15.2, nicely built, on the compact side. LTS and MG were very speedy sprinters, MB is unraced. Are there any good things going between the mares and Repriced? Any potential for a commercial foal?

(non-sequitor) Repriced seems to be doing well with Relaunch for some reason (end non-sequitor); the two ones of the three where the pedigree match-ups might have potential are Luv That Security and Momma's Garden.

Luv That Security is from the His Majesty male line and thus it'd be 2x4 Roberto/His Majesty, a pair crossed real close like in Dynaformer, and a bit further back in horses like 2xTime Melbourne Cup winning filly Makybe Diva, Champion Grass Mare Bank's Hill, GIW Intercontinental, G2W Dansili, G2W Cacique, GIW Wandering Star, G2W Lear Spear, Japenese Champion 2YO Colt Grass Wonder, Champion Grass Mare Wonder Again, VEN-GIW Largavita, AUS-GIW Skates, and GIW Country Tyrone.

This could also be called the "Danehill/Roberto Nick", but many of the good ones in there aren't by Danehill or his many good sons. The one problem is that I don't think this powerful nick has worked in a major winner yet with the His Majesty coming through Pleasant Colony.

With Momma's Garden there's Stage Door Johnny, who is the dam grandsire on Repriced's only Champion (and if I recall correctly only GIW): Rotativa, a Champion Older Mare in Columbia.

I checked, and Sir Ivor and Roberto also seem to do pretty well together; see the GIWs Linesmen, Shalimar (YUG), Kitten's Joy, Time Paradox, Heat Haze, and Alpride. (Usually I never count winners of GIs in countries like YUG as GIWs, but in the case of Shalimar the PQ is calling her a Multiple Champion so I'll make an exception unless someone points out that it's inaccurate.)

Regarding Momma's Garden, now the question for you is to:

1. Determine the racing class of Rotativa.

2. Look at her pedigree real close and try to figure out why she was good enough to get a Championship. Especially try to figure out if Stage Door Johnny was the key, or if he was more "Along for the ride".

The fact that Momma's Garden is a granddaughter of the grandsire of Repriced's best running offspring means that the conformational match-up is something that should be worth looking into if after checking Rotativa's racing class and pedigree structure you more or less like what you see.

Repriced has been okay. We bred and ran him, and have bred and raced a bunch of his babies. He has gotten some hard knocking horses, no real good runners, though we have a three year old filly named Rich in Spirit that can really run. His problem is that he won't get you a commerical foal. His babies are large, rough, and not always the best looking, but do get better as they grow up. And they can run, especially for his stud fee. He's basically a turf sire, and the pinhookers are never interested. We bought back a yearling last year for $22,000 that is a very correct, good looking filly. We have done okay breeding sprinters to him, so I kind of like Momma's Garden. I wouldn't breed a huge mare to him.

Chicago 78, Thank you very much! Actually, I wasn't looking for THAT commercial a breeding; Momma's Garden is an abandoned boarder here, and I could get the Repriced season cheap. The law says I have the right to sell the mare at auction to recoup the board.. it is a LOT of board. I would like to try to sell her in foal in November. Would she bring $6K in foal to Repriced? She was a dead dirty fast sprinter with behavioral problems.. would lock her knees and refuse to come out of the gate. She embarrassed the last trainer for the last time and they "disposed" of her...she is a Very Beautiful mare with perfect legs, QH build, nice head, neck, shoulder, etc., Easy Keeper, no vices.

I don't know if she'd bring 6k or not. How much did the mare earn at the track? Some of Repriced's babies are on the wild side, so if this mare had some behavioral problems, the foal could be a nut. It may be worth a shot. His horses can usually win and make a little money.
