Milwaukee Brew

Has anyone seen him since he moved to Canada? I heard the farm where he is standing now is not very nice and has no proper turnout for the stallions there. I hope it is not true - his former home at Adena in Florida was such a lovely place for a horse to live and in my opinion, he deserved it.

Gardiner Farms has been around a very long time, but sadly when Mr. Gardiner passed away the family put very little money back into the farm, (much the same situation at Windfields). So yes, the esthetic appearance of the place is not what it once was. That said, there are lovely paddocks for the stallions, they all get turnout & the stallion barn boasts lovely big stalls. Gardiner at this point is just a "Farm Name", its the staff who are the substance of that operation & always have been. With the farm currently forsale, there is no doubt in my mind that the continued success of "Gardiner Farms" is dependent on its staff not the actual facility.

I am sure Milwaukee Brew won't mind that the paint isn't as fresh as it once might have been because the care he, like all of the other horses, will recieve, will be nothing short of terrific. :)

Yes they do.

We've got a palomino TB stallion named Canadian Kid, which is a huge misnomer - he spent most of his life in Alabama, Georgia & California. Last year at the ripe old age of 19, he moved north of the Mason-Dixon line for the first time - He made the move in January & we immediately had 3 straight weeks where the weather didn't get above freezing.

"Welcome home, big guy," was about all we could say. "Here's your blanket!"

This year he is getting a real winter coat, maybe for the first time.

I'm sure Milwaukee Brew will make the transition just as easily.

I bought a mare one year from Florida & she had never lived anywhere else... she loved the winters..lol although i brought her home from a sale in Feb and she had never seen snow!!! lol it was nuts.. she grew enough hair in a short time for 10 horses.. and use to go out every day and roll in the snow.. she loved it.. :) Look forward to seeing him.

I have been away awhile, but thanks westover for the assessment of Gardiner. I love Brew - have two foals by him coming in February. I'm so glad he is getting good care.

I will be sending a mare to MB in 2010.. He is a lovely horse. Its so great to get such a nice stallion for Ontario. We struggle so much in Ontario for good stallions. The mare i am going to send to him foals late :( (may) but she is going no matter what lol i want a mini-brew. tee hee

Gardiner are terrific in all regard, he is in great hands. :) Their Open House is next Sunday, Dec 6th, for anyone who wants to go. Not sure of the time but i can find out.

I agree that a stallion would be very happy at Gardiner's. They have some of Pin Oak's as well as Adena Spring's now which would be because of Dr Mike Colterjohn's great care and handling. Each stallion is kept in a stall and turned out where he is most content. They even arrange their breeding schedule around individual preferences. It is no surprise that Bold Ex is still going strong. They are the best place to have a mare bred and are very helpful to breeders with any problems or questions. :)
