why are there no strong buckpasser sire lines in america?
wasn't he supposed to be like the most flawless horse to ever step foot on a racecourse or something like that?
einstein will be his best bet it looks like and you got montebrook down in FL and spend a buck is in brazil.
is he not "COMMERICAL" or something?
just found that odd once I really realized it. If any sireline should keep going it's that one.

Montbrook is his best hope and he has a few sons doing ok.
Frank Mitchell has a theory about how some fantastic racehorses often find it difficult to reproduce themselves because their body type and mechanics are really different than the rest of the population. I believe he calls it biomechanics. He's mentioned Buckpasser as one of those horses.
He gets into detail about it if you google him.

but buckpasser was able to reproduce himself, just not in a son. he was one of the best broodmare sires of all time IMHO.
but let's keep it real. Spend a buck never was given a shot in kentucky.
when he started out (buckpasser) were they standing alot of if his sons and they were flopping? I could understand that. or did someone in kentucky just decide he wasn't fashionable like they did with sunday silence.

The general theory is that the best performed sons on the track took Buckpasser's physical. So while it helped them be productive on the track, it made them just as hard if not harder to breed to the general mare population. But the daughters didn't have to prove themselves on the track to be bred so many of them succeeded, especially since a good portion by chance, wouldn't have been that physically similar to their sire.
He gets into detail. It's a bit complicated. He has specifics about how certain body types were slowly integrated into the general population, etc. He talks about it a lot concerning Secretariat and Raise a Native.
