Hedge On Gold

This is a new stallion to the farm.

An absolute doll. With lovely conformation, class and size. He started his career winning a $50,000 claimer at 2 and was thought to be a "nice" horse. Then one of the grooms working with straw in his stall stabbed his tendon through and through with a pitch fork!! Apparently he was never the same. So the owner who is a client has decided to leave him with me and we will see what happens. I have only 2 dates picked out for him, obviously only in house mares. Runnaway Victory by Victory Gallop and Jelly Dancer by Robyn Dancer. So we will take our chances and see what we get.

According to Brisnet, Hedge on Gold started in 2006, at age 3, made 33 starts over four years, with a record of 4-4-2 and earned $84K.. do you mean he did all that with a hole in his tendon?

Well he was laid off after that incident and the tendon healed, but he was never the same. He tried is guts out though. He ran through all his issues and with half a paralyzed throat also. So we like him and will give him a small shot at stud. He is so lovely to look at and is a gorgeous hunter type mover we may offer him to the sport horse market also. He may end up showing the hunters in our area and going to the inspections. Maybe the Royal stallion class this year, If I have time, or anyone is interested in taking him. :D

Right-o. There is no sign of a $50K claiming race in his two year old year. He didn't win a race until he was 4...

RACE RECORD: Race Record in US
2006 1 0 0 0 $726
2007 2 0 0 0 $1,360
Totals 3 0 0 0 $2,086 (SSI=0.24)
Race Record in Can
2006 6 0 2 0 $12,393
2007 8 2 0 1 $36,183
2008 9 2 2 1 $31,898
2009 7 0 0 0 $1,818
Totals 30 4 4 2 $82,292 (SSI=0.97)

Cum 33 4 4 2 $84,378
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....

madelyn, the race in question is most likely the 50k MCL that he won at Woodbine on 5/4/07, when he was 4.

Sorry... That what I was told and I never looked him up. Did he run in a 50k and do well? Maybe that was what the owner was saying. Then he got injured... I can only say what I was told and obviously there is some miss communication somewhere.

Equibase is a great place to start if you are looking for past performances as they now offer race charts for free. All you have to do is sign up with a username and password.

The internet is a great tool. It's amazing how many times people will blatantly talk up their horses, not realizing it's relatively easy these days to confirm or deny their statements.

K2
I have an equibase account, have been way too busy to do so. Not like I am advertising him to outside mares to breed. All I know is I LOVE this horse! He is absolute class animal. My mother handles him daily, and I can tell you that she is usually scared of most horses.
