Producing a sire from a good broodmare sire.

Postby Jorge » Sat Jan 23, 2010 7:13 pm

A question to all of you.

If you have a sire who is behaving like a probable good broodmare sire, but, nevetheless, you want to obtain a good son from him
for the purpose of producing a future sire, what would you do to achieve your goal. Any historical case you know that can be cited?

Any know techniques or theories on using "photocopy" mares for duplicating your sire

Please cite them! Please share your breeding experiences!

Thanks in advance for your participation.

(P.S. A "Photocopy" mare is a mare who majoritarily tends to pass on her mate's qualities or genes rather than hers. Arguably, some people alleged Grey Flight was a good example)

I belive producing a commercial stallion is probably more about promotion and mare selection than anything else
