US Sire Halo's Image Dies Aged 19
US dual Gr3-wining & Gr1-placed 19-year-old stallion Halo's Image (Halo-Sugar's Image, by Valid Appeal) "died after suffering an apparent heart attack while covering a mare at the Appleton family's Bridlewood Farm" in Florida, reported bloodhorse.com. Halo's Image won or placed in 20 of 26 starts & earned US$549,891; his 6 stakes victories included the 1994 Gr3 Tropical Park Handicap & 1996 Gr3 Broward Handicap (plus placing in the Gr1 Florida Derby). As a stallion, Halo's Image (Florida's leading sire in 2004 & 2006) is represented by 17 stakes-winners (including dual Gr1-winner Southern Image) & the earners of US$20.5 million. He stood this season at Bridlewood for US$4,000. (Mar 16)
