Read this story, it is one of those fairytales why we love horseracing!
The more I get to know people, the more I love animals.

I guess he really did not want to load in that starting gate.

Lomitas Died

Postby Bettina » Wed Sep 01, 2010 1:59 am

Hallo,
very sad to read that Lomitas died. he was one of the greatest race horses in German history.

It was a well published story even outside the Racing world, about his aversion against starting gate. It was such a problem, with almost ended his career. Thankfaully it could have solved by Monty Roberts.

That not the only story from Lomitas. It would have been the "raw material" for a Dick Francis thriller, about owners, horses and blackmail.

Lomitas was one of the thoroughbreds I saw racing personally. In my case it was "the Grosser Preis von Baden", a Group I event at a very hot September day. I was so excited I swallow a pint of beer in the sametime as the race lasted, about 2:30 minutes.

best regards from Germany.
