Pedigree Query

hi guys,

Pomeroy...WOW, talk about a stallion with first crop 3-yos of 2011 that is absolutely positively getting the job done.

I know there's been some talk about this guy, but I'd submit he's worthy more than just some talk...I believe he's earned VERY serious attention/consideration.

For starters...Pomeroy's brilliant undefeated G2 winning son Flashpoint appears to be QUITE special...Pomeroy's G2 winning daughter Pomeroys Pistol has more than a touch of genuine talent...Pomeroy's multiple stakes-winning son Positive Response has already won stakes (west coast and east coast) going a mile and a sixteenth, and will try to win again this weekend; this time going a mile and an eighth in the $500,000 graded Spiral Stakes (sponsored by Vinery, where Pomeroy stands ). Hmmm...a couple of first-crop Derby/classics prospects maybe?

If that's not enough...all of a sudden (just a couple of days ago) Pomeroy gets a $625,000 mega sales topper at Barretts 2-yo select...which by the way was bought by Jess Jackson's Stonestreet.

I gotta believe Pomeroy is worthy some VERY serious attention...and recognition.

Yes stallions that sire G2 winners are fantastic the second coming of Northen Dancer.

Love it. Only thing good about it is he's finally moved on from Full Mandate.

Why the sarcasm? He's turning out to be a very useful sire at a modest stud fee. His stats aren't skewed by just one outstanding runner either. Seriously, what's not to like?

My apologies you are right his "first" crop is 3 what was I thinking of, he is proven over so many years

His claim to fame seems to be grand sire of The Factor and great grand sire of Flaspoint.

He is likeable no doubt about that, but all the bullshit hype off 1 crop?

I'd rather hype Congrats, champion freshman sire, Gr I winners in his first crop, and they keep on running as 3 year olds.

Exactly. His son Danehill seemed to only get runners who could excel in third world countries like Ireland.

838 Starters from 1074 foals for what - about 78% starters from foals

659 Winners from 1074 foals for what - a little over 61% from foals ( not from starters but from foals )

198 Stakes Winners from 1074 foals - Oh my, that can't be right, a tad over 18% from foals ( Not even A. P. Indy can match that percentage )

I think the last time I saw an AEI it was like 4.20 to a mares cumulative of 3.70 and I believe Indy's A. I. is still considerably lower than his mare's index

21 Champions sired by Danzig and as far as stallions and mares I guess the thoroughbred world would be better without the likes of Danehill, Dayjur, Dance Smartly, Chief's Crown, Polish Precedent, Anaaba, Maroof, Polonia, Bianconi, Pine Bluff, Danzig Connection, Boundary, Lotka, Shaadi, Langfuhr, Petit Loup, Yamanin, Lure, Versilles Treaty, Polish Navy, Dispute, Brahms, Contredance, War Front, Hard Spun, Lost Soldier, Exchange Rate, Belong To Me, Ect.

To say WHO IS Danzig, I can see it in a casual person to person conversation but to type it seems, well, you better go read up on pedigree's and history a tad bit before you let your fingers think for a brain.

Now, I will admit, I find it hard to jump on Pomeroy's bandwagon off of oldest 3 year olds ( Anybody remember a little horse named Birdstone ??? ); It wasn't like he wasn't bred to a bunch of mares and so far he has 30 winners from 101 foals in his 1st crop with 4 Sw's, not bad but definitely not super sire numbers. The majority of Super sires have always shown brilliance from their 1st crops on except for perhaps A. P. Indy but then again it seems like The Belmont Stakes winners as sires always get better as their offspring matures. I think Indy had 8 winners in his 1st crop as 2 year olds.

Look at War Front for instance, 27 winners from 76 foals with 5 SW.

Are the 2 above doing better than Zenyatta's present beau, definitely yes early on in this year ( It is only March isn't it ? ), 23 winners from 109 foals in his 1st crop so far with 5 SW's, 2 Gr. 1's, a Gr. 2, a Gr. 3 and a Gr.1 SP but I think he is more likely to follow in his daddy's footsteps where they will improve the older they get which is kinda scary. If anybody does have the mark of quite possibly becoming a super sire it is Bernardini but then again look at the mare's he's breeding.

But then again look at Mr. Prospector 4 SW's from 27 foals with Champion It's in the Air from Florida mares. That was the beginnings of a super sire.

If ya multiplied that 1st crop of Mr. P's by 4 which seems to be the average for Pomeroy and Bernadini's 1st which would be 108 foals and 16 SW's to put it in perspective how great Mr. P's early beginnings really were.
