The Rock or Catcher?

Postby saintlyCZ » Mon Feb 28, 2005 1:05 pm

Quite a dilemma :D Last few days I'm thinking quite often of which one will be better sire... I saw almost all races of Rock of Gibraltar and he was just outstanding, but Catcher in the Rye's finish in Poule d'Essai was also breathtaking... They have quite similar conformation, typical Danehills, and their offsprings are fantastic... Last year's colt Sabir, out of Landseer's half sister Sabreon, was the best foal I've seen so far, and Catcher in the Rye's filly by daughter of Thatching looks wonderful too.
I'm not breeder, so I'm not choosing stallion. But I loved The Rock and Catcher captured my heart when finishing second in Poule d'Essai... I'm just looking forward to see how good sires they're going to be. Who do you think will be better?

Hi im a smaller breeder in the UK, we have 6 broodmares. Of course the Rock, was a multiplr Gr.1 winner, and champion but stands in Ireland for 55,000 euros. Catcher In The Rye, also my Danehill, didn't quite match up to the Rock on the racetrack (onlt through injury though), but in very interesting at a fraction of the cost, at just 4,000 euros. I am sending one of my best mares to Catcher In The Rye, this season. It is interesting to note, the Catcher's female family is one of the strongest around. For 4,000 euros, you can't go far wrong, now that Danehill, himself is gone.
