Hi Griff,

MY take is that they've both been around the world, bred to outstanding books of mares in at least three countries, yet sired relatively few good horses. Both are also in their late teens (hard to believe--seems like yesterday they were running).

I wouldn't expect their sire records to improve any in the future. Yes, they may become decent regional sires in West Virginia, but my experience tells me that vagabond stallions which have circled the globe, and/or shuttled earlier in their careers, have depleted most of their vigor.

If you check the sales results for Housebuster progeny this year, they barely brought back the stud fee. I bred a Housebuster filly that looks great but I was told she would never sell if I took her one of the regional sales. And from the results- none of them did very well

I like Black Tie Affair a lot more than Housebuster. He has sired some very good horses. I question how well they will sell at auction.

Any thoughts on sales expectations for BTA foals. I belive his2005 foals are his first crop since returning from Japan.

BTA has produced five millionaires and 30 plus stakes horses. Don't know how many were stakes winners in Japan or how many of the five milionaires were Japineese bred; however, a horse that wins $1million plus is still a millionair.

I guess the best thing to do is watch how BTA's 2005 foals sale and where.
