Best stallion prospect from 2011 3yos

Not suprisingly I would go with Shackleford at this point. Speed that carries and good looks which goes a long way to attracting a nice book. He kind of reminds me of a bigger version of Chief's Crown when he runs. Nice family too and if Discreet Cat does real well it could enhance his value.

just on looks alone from watching the preak warm-up I was very impressed with the looks of Astrology.

Can we just ask that Sway Away doesn't contribute that back to the gene pool.

I was just looking at a photo of Shackleford and wow, what a beauty he is also. Look at his pretty white face, his blaze is almost a perfect "arrow" shape going upward.

I can just imagine what he would look like not all washed out. He looks big too. ???

This is always an interesting question... I am partial to horses who can carry their speed a long way so I would select Shackleford as my top pick. That said as hot as the Blushing Groom sire line is I wouldn't put it past Animal Kingdom to keep said line on a roll..

Since THE FACTOR (gray/ro colt 2008) was a household name on his own racing merits and an early Kentucky Derby favorite, posing his name here may look like an "of course" selection. But take a close look at his pedigree. http://www.pedigreequery.com/the+factor2
Everything over there shouts "success". Then go to his conformation and examine it closely.

Very nice conformation! In synthesis, in spite THE FACTOR comes as no surprise thanks to his fame, this is my right away candidate.

But let me try to come up with a less obvious choice. Let's call this one a longshot. His name is
STORMY THE CAT
gray colt 2008 (Storm Cat – Unrestrained; Unbridled)

Take a look at his pedigree. Looks to me like a winner in the breeding shed. Let's put him among the modest ranks for now, but he has good potential.

I really, really like Animal Kingdom from a performance AND pedigree standpoint. I think he would provide a terrific outcross for the KY market.

Shackleford is interesting. I like when a horse can carry high-cruising speed a classic distance. His female family is also responsible for good stallions Gone West, Known Fact, Atan, etc. and then from a different branch Round Table, Pulpit, Tale of the Cat, etc.

Shackleford......facts are facts...he's dead game, carry's his speed, good family, high cruising speed, rateable, and if not for the one race that he knocked himself woosy in the gate hitting his head...he's right there every time.......

Let me clarify this angle. Remember that we are analyzing this topic exclusively from an upper half pedigree perspective. In other words, from a 50% percent perspective. In consequence, when I suggest the name of THE FACTOR we have to start from the premise that the breeding mate will have to provide the other half ---the lower half.

I mention this because there are many prospective sires out there lacking
heavyweight stamina and this cannot be interpreted against certain type
of horse. In the case of THE FACTOR, he seems to possess all the tools for becoming a super sire, regardless of the fact that he was not a nine- furlongs type of horse (Mr Prospector comes to mind).

The aforementioned 2011 Preakness winner is also a very impressive prospective sire, but since a foal is the result of two parents, I am more inclined to expect more success from THE FACTOR than from the Preakness winner.

A good example of this are The Tetrarch's daughters, many of whom inherited brilliant speed and these mares reproduced excellent all-distances performers thanks to the brilliance coming from The Tetrarch. I visualize the same happening with THE FACTOR's progeny.

But let me stipulate that the Preakness winner is bringing to the table a brilliant front-running paradigm, just like Holy Bull did during his career and eventually proved he is an excellent sire.

I also favor the refreshing lines of ANIMAL KINGDOM and would really like
to see him becoming a new breeding force for the benefice of the Thoroughbred breeding in this side of the Atlantic. Yet, candidly speaking,
fingers crossed.....I mean ALL fingers!

Hope that the usual number of fingers multiplied by the usual number of
extremities is enough to propel Animal Kingdom. Hope we don't have to receive help from the young guy from the far east.
