So we recently acquired a youngster by Anasheed and I am intrigued by his pedigree - AP Indy over Nureyev.

The following is from his stallion page -

Jessi, this is what I found in the Time Form.

Flagbird TF 113p (means wil still improve)
1993: 2yo; good topped filly; closely related to a minor stakes winner by Danzig. Dam won 7 races incl Delaware Oaks: very useful performer, won newcomers race at Deauville in august, head second to Bonash in GR 3 Prix d'Aumale in september and to Sierra Madre in Prix Marcel Boussac both at Longchamp; will probably be suited by further than 1m; act on heavy going. Has scope and should win minor races.

1994: well-made attractive filly: one of the leading French juveniles of 1993, ran very well to beat East of the Moon by a length in Prix de la Grotte at Longchamp at reappearance: just respectable efforts when fifth in Poule d'Essai des Pouliches there (4 3/4 lengths behind East of the Moon) then third of six in Prix Quincey at Deauville (2 1/2 lenghts behind Pollen Count) three months later; will stay beyond 1m; act on good to firm and soft ground; sent to Dubai. Thanks so much! Sounds like his dam was pretty nice, and worth the trip to see AP Indy. I was just reading the article on "Saving Nureyev" and apparently every Nureyev foal was considered a minor miracle given his low fertility. Thanks again for the info on Flagbird.

I worked for one of the farms that stood Anasheed in NY and I loved him. He was beautiful, just small. He was built very well, small and compact. If you didn't know his pedigree was somewhat turf/distance horses you would think he was from a long line of sprint horses. Almost QH built to him. The foals I saw look a lot like him.

Our colt is small also - but well built. Definitely vertically challenged, but thats okay too.

Anasheed was max 15.2hh. Almost wider than taller too
