what do you guys think about frankel as a stallion?

Well, he's fast, he's very well-bred, and he's owned by Juddmonte, so he'll get a fair shake and then some to start him off.

His 2nd dam produced Powerscourt, who was very useful on the track and surprised a lot of people in the shed before being packed off to Turkey. He probably would have had a better go of things had he started in Europe; I'm sure the Turkish Racing Authority is feeling very fortunate.

Galileo doesn't have many sons with crops racing, so it remains to be seen whether he qualifies as a sire of sires. I think Teofilo is the only one...he has a Gr-3 winner in Ireland so far with strong Darley support. Of the two I think Frankel has more brilliance, but it's difficult to say for sure given that Teofilo was packed off to stud so early.

I doubt that Juddmonte will bring him over to NA either to race or for stud. He'll go to the UK, will be the best of the Galileo sons to stud to date, and if he's priced right might take quite a bit of business from dear old dad.

IMO it all depends on the big wild card in this pedigree, Danehill. Sadlers Wells, Urban Sea, Rainbow Quest, and Stage Door Johnny are all classic to stamina types. Powerscourt is definitely a stamina type. Danehill can do anything to a pedigree, though, from manifest stamina to brilliant speed...it's predicting what effect he will have on breeding genetics that is the guessing game.

If the speedier aspects of Danehill come through, it opens him up to ND lines with more stamina, such as Niniski and his son Hernando. I quite like the Hernando cross.

If the classy stamina aspect of Danehill comes through, he'll need more of a miler-to-classic type. Lyphard looks best here, either through Dancing Brave or Linamix. Lyphard also has a line to Lady Juror via Court Martial, something that has been important for both Blushing Groom and Danzig. Based on their results with Danehill down under, Try My Best and El Gran Senor could also work.

For a bit out of the box, a French Deputy mare of the right physical type, to tie in genetic relations Stage Door Johnny and Speak John. It's worth mentioning that French Deputy over a Sadlers Wells mare has 2 stakes winners from 3 tries in Japan.

Kingmambo will be tried often for the Nureyev/Special cross....I don't like it so much, I think there are other, better sources of Mr P. Machiavellian/Street Cry, Gone West/Zamindar/Zafonic/Johar, Woodman (mares from his earlier crops), and Gulch. For Nureyev, I would go with Pivotal or Goldneyev (especially the latter for the Never Bend line).

And a Sunday Silence line would be very interesting.
