What makes you say that? Just asking to get perspective, to me his pasterns say short distance as does his shoulder, but the picture I am looking at might be misleading. He did take a bit of time to get moving though so perhaps he's just got such an efficient stride and heart that he could get that burst earlier than distance runners?

i say that because accoeding to the informed at the tracks sprinters are stubby, musclely and have really big behinds and very high stifles -he does not fit the stereo type.

I was reading about speed and conformation and it said that the sprinters are often the big horses and the sprinters the smaller, wiry horses. LIke Mr. Prospector vs. Gallant Man. I think any of these are generalities though, horses will do what they will do!

Yes it was breathing issues that kept him running short. He was a huge talent. Just sired his first winner the other day..

Do you know any more details about his "breathing issues", zinn21? He just covered our mare on Tuesday. His first winner was the same cross as with our mare....a Storm Cat line mare. I think he has 121 2yo's. Will be watching them closely.

What do you guys think of him as a sire? He had a pretty phenomenal weekend last weekend and has a couple running in stakes again this weekend. Do you think the hype has merit?

Blazing Lute, a 3YO now training at Santa Anita, is by Midnight Lute out of our recent broodmare purchase--Blazing Bartok (SP and a full sister to Euro Empire).

He hasn't run his first race yet, but he's turning in some good works, including one that was faster than He's Had Enough. Although works aren't always a good indicator of what a horse will do in an actual race, we sure have our fingers crossed!
