Does Winstar give any discounts off their advertised stud fe

Postby wgc517 » Mon Feb 27, 2012 1:02 pm

Am wondering if anyone knows if Winstar discounts off their advertised fees and if so to what degree.
thanks

A couple Winstar charges have had seasons offered on the various season auctions. I'm betting that they would entertain a discussion at least. Some of the stallion season brokers have deals as they have bundled some seasons.

As for the big guys in the barn - I doubt it.

I think most of their stallions have good sized books so I'm not sure who they are discounting on now, if you have not booked. I was out there yesterday and that's the impression I got when I talked to the stallion manager.

It often depends on the mare's pedigree you present and to what extent you can talk to someone about the future of the foal. It is still early in the season but if you need help let me know.

I ended up going with Artie Schiller. His book was pretty full so just getting to him was a good thing. I just hope I made the right choice and that he can continue to get better as a stallion.

Great choice :D . He's got over 80% starters from his first crop.
These are from Monday. I cannot wait to see the colt I get from him next January.

I visited four farms and they were all pleased with the books/quantity/quality thus far so deals may not be as easy to find unless you have a late foaling mare.

we have 3 artie babies, all BEAUTIFUL, so you will not be disappointed. He's a steal at $10K, we paid $15K, and that was a bargain, too!

Would you like to share pictures of them if you can? Who do they take after?
