On to Glory?

Postby SummerLand » Wed Mar 23, 2005 6:57 am

I recently purchased some old (from mid-90’s) Ocala Breeder Sales catalogs. One of the Florida sires that caught my eye was On to Glory (Bold Lad-Shenanigans). I am pretty sure he is deceased by now because he was born in 1971.

I can’t seem to find too much information about him so can anyone help me out? What was his race record like? How was he as a sire, broodmare sire, and sire of sires?

I would also love to see some pictures of him if anyone has some.

Thanks!

On to Glory was a long-time popular stallion in Florida, only had seven starts as a racer, and not stakes quality. His main claim to fame is as broodmare sire of Louis Quatorze. He had lots of offspring, mostly regional horses.

He did pretty well considering everything but was definitely a regional sire. On to Royalty (dam of Louis Quatorze) was about the best runner he ever got; she also produced G1 winner Royal Indy before dying at age 15. Her full brother Meritocrat was a G2-winning sprinter and is now at stud in India.

On to Glory was closely related to Ruffian, by the way, since he was also by a son of Bold Ruler out of Shenanigans.
