Has anybody seen Saarland in person? He seems to be a very hot commodity, fully booked since December and his stud fee already doubled to 20k for next season.

I've seen him and have a mare booked to him. He's a tall rangy horse with good conformation.

Does he have the Unbridled shoulder and pasterns?

Straight shoulders, upright pasterns, and over at the knee. I think the prize-winning specimen is Red Bullet:

You can click on the same URL and put Saarland's name in the inquiry area and bring up the picture. Looks okay to me.

A friend has a mare booked to Saarland, and the farm even tried to buy the season back plus give them a reduced breeding to any stud on their farm. If that doesn't say keep the season nothing else will! Now we just have to cross our fingers and hope the mare gets in foal.

Camish, Saarland was a not a special racehorse. Geez, I know his pedigree is outstanding ,but this guy had no turn of foot, and could not get to the 1st quarter pole in under 24. I think his picture is next to the word plodder in the dictionary. I love the family and I think he could be a useful stallion, but come on he was SAARLAND for chrismas sake?

I dont disagree he was a bit of a plodder. But being by Unbridled coupled with his tremendous female family makes him a very exciting sire prospect. I sent a mare to him and she was pronounced in-foal 2 weeks ago. From what i understand from Hill N Dale is that he was a bit slow on bookings up until the November sale where their were alot of people going to see stallions. He HAS to be gorgeous, he was booked solid in 2 weeks from that sale and with the quality of mares he is booked to combined with the quality of mares he had to turn down made them raise his fee to 20k for 2006. He seemed cheap (at least to me) at 10k, and am not suprised he is now 20k, as far as i'm concerned he should have been 15k this year!
