Rough Opening

Postby madelyn » Thu Apr 07, 2005 9:50 am

My friend's stallion, Rough Opening, died Tuesday... he had a strangulated inguinal hernia. Started to colic, got gut/bowel twisted around a testicle and had to be euthanized... Terrible loss to a small breeder. She had only gotten two mares to him so far and has several left to breed. It is always so hard to lose a horse.

Oh how awful! He was such a nice horse. Heartfelt sadness for Rough Opening and your friend.

Poor horse -- he must have been in terrible pain. So sad.

I hope he didn't have to suffer long, since he's a stallion likely getting attention easily nearby. A horse out in the pasture might have suffered for days.
