Hi all

We have our very first Pleasant Colony stallion son heading our way this coming season.

Denon.

Not doubting Pleasant Colony's own record as a sire but just wondering what everyone thinks of his sons at stud. Sorry, don't have a lot of time on my hands to be able to research myself......

Should I be getting a little excited though?

I would be excited. Denon was a VERY good horse. And he is a half brother to Chimes of Freedom, dam of Aldeberran and Good Journey. He's also closely related to Spinning World. Denon was a real good miler, but also won races up to 12 furlongs.

As for Pleasant Colony, I don't see why he can't make a good sire of sires. Most of his good runners have excelled as older horses and/or at real long distances, which isn't exactly what breeders in this country look for. Behrens, Colonial Affair, Pleasant Tap, St. Jovite, Lac Ouimet, etc. His son Pleasant Tap is consistent and has had some good runners.
