Opinions on Stack

Does anyone have any opinions on Stack (Nijinsky II x File-Tom Rolfe) as a sire? I'm looking at a son of his to purchase.

Stack is quite an interesting horse. He was a three-time leading sire in Peru (which actually has some pretty competitive racing on the South American scene despite being well behind Argentina and Brazil in foal production) and on his statistics has been a fairly useful sire in Florida when one considers that he has gotten poor opportunites by both quality and quantity -- his AEI/CI ratio is 1.16/0.76, so he's been moving up the mares he does get.
Stack is a beautifully bred horse, but about the only son of his that might get any play at all in the US as a stud prospect is G3 winner Stokosky, and I wouldn't see him getting much -- late maturing horses that did their best running on grass just aren't attractive in the US, and Stack has absolutely no reputation as a sire of sires to help his sons out. Shoot, most people wouldn't even know who Stack was.

Thanks Mahubah. It is Stokosky that I was referring to.

Stokosky could be an interesting prospect for a private breeder with some patience -- lots of stamina and toughness in his background as well as several interesting female families for linebreeding experiments. I would not see him as being commercially attractive, however, for the reasons already mentioned.
