Mineshaft foals

Postby Betsy » Fri Apr 29, 2005 5:00 am

Lane's End has a bunch of Mineshaft foals up on their website - I'd love to hear some opinions. I couldn't possibly judge them even if I knew what I was talking about - I just adore Mineshaft, so I'm biased already. These babies are adorable. In any case, I'd love to hear some opinions.

Thanks!

Hi Betsy,
I too am a big fan of Mineshaft and A.P. Indy.
Can't comment on conformation issues, especially with foals. (The only thing I ever notice is that all of them seem to have very upright pasterns.)
However, judging by the mares, it seems like Mineshaft is getting the opportunity to prove himself. Hopefully he will do well, and carry on for A.P. Indy. Sure wish Old Trieste was still alive and kicking.
By the way, Mineshaft is the May poster boy on the Tranquility Farm's calendar. Beautiful boy!!

There's a very pretty Mineshaft filly at the farm where my mares live and another Mineshaft foal expected soon. I'd love to see him make it as a stallion and I'd love to have one of his foals. :)

By the way, though Minehshaft is bay apparently the majority of his offspring so far have been chestnut.

hi LSB

You wrote "...though Minehshaft is bay apparently the majority of his offspring so far have been chestnut."

Interesting...because the majority of Full Mandate (also by A.P. Indy) foals that I've seen so far are chestnut also.

Respectfully

On a side note, Indy Mood (another A.P. Indy) has several chestnut foals as well...

Thanks for all of your responses - Mineshaft is taking after his sire, since Indy sires a lot of chestnuts. Must be that Secretariat gene.......either way, his foals are adorable. So many people think he was overrated because they claim he didn't beat much, but to me, he was a thoroughly deserving HOY. I hope he can carry on Indy's line.......such a tragedy about Old Triested. I loved that horse. I'm so proud of Malibu Moon, though..........

I saw Mineshaft when I was in KY. last week and just let me say, I'm buying more lottery tkts! When I get spare 100,000, I'll breed to him!!!
I went to Lanes End to look at Pleasantly Perfect and just happened to see Mineshaft ( I was never a big fan) when they brought him out to breed. A gorgeous horse and a fabulous temperament. All the grooms like him and I just can't say enough about his "presence". I hope he's a success at stud.
